Just when you think you have enough sparkle thread - welcome glitter superior thread. I don't use life changing too often but really this is the stuff of magic!
I already posted about my love of metallic thread which is so fun to add to projects especially when you have all the techniques to make it easy to work with!
I do have to say this one teeny tiny thing....(not at all competing with love of metallic thread!) but this is easier to use.
Did she say easier?!- I was BLOWN AWAY! I thought "oh I'll just try this to practice and see what it looks like" turned to (squeals of joy/jumping) "no way does it look this cool!" Who knew thread to be soooooo cool! (really showing my age here, huh?)
It says that it is Metallic thread in the fiber description but it doesn't feel like metallic thread to me! I didn't use metallic needle. Barely adjusted tension. Had no problems stopping, starting or breaking of thread whatsoever. I was truly impressed with the quality and effect these have! I can't wait to start Christmas project with glittery details!!

I used two of Superior Glitter ThreadSuperior Glitter Threads in the above picture. Don't mind that this is just free motion and no rulers (I'm sorry lovers of straight lines and perfection! Remember my trick for happiness with your sewing/quilts?)
I used a Glitter Silver (below right) and Glitter Peacock (below left). It's hard to imagine the sheen/sparkle and depth these add to your work. I really love it against the dark background fabric! Are you dying to see more of this quilt?! It is so close to being done only after like 6....8.....I've lost count......months!!!! It is quite unbelievable and I have ton of details to share!
Here you can really see the iridescence sheen that the peacock has! Love how it shimmers and almost has a green tinge.
Here you can see the silver but really it almost has a multi color look! Love how it works with any colors!!
Wow, great effect!
ReplyDeleteLove how this looks. I've had no luck with metallic threads - I may have to give it another try!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely should! I research further and it is mylar not metal for material which is why it felt so different (in a good way). It really was a dream and then would lead to more versatility than metallic thread for a similar effect.
DeleteI have almost finished quilting a king-sized quilt with Superior Silver metallic thread. It looks beautiful on my blacks/whites modification of the Star of Bethlehem. I loosened my tension a bit, used a slightly longer stitch, and sewed very slowly. I am so pleased with how it looks.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds awesome Pat! I'm really like the contrast and great tips when working with it!
DeleteSuperior Glitter really is terrific to work with, and adds the BEST sparkly effect! I used it in a bargello quilt a couple of years ago with no problems whatsoever--and Superior Threads' tips on their website are invaluable. Thanks for linking up to What I Made Monday.
ReplyDeleteI was really awestruck by the quality and yes the no problems whatsoever!
DeleteDefinitely glittery goodness!
